The security guard accused of assaulting 53-year-old Albert Vasquez at Heart WeHo Nightclub in West Hollywood has been identified as 22-year-old Khyren Ross. Ross has been charged with one misdemeanor count of battery causing serious bodily injury and one misdemeanor count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. His arraignment is scheduled for May 29 in Dept. 73 of the Airport Courthouse, as reported by The Beverly Press.
Ross, who worked for WGS Group, a security company contracted by Heart WeHo, allegedly punched Vasquez in the face on April 5 when Vasquez attempted to enter the nightclub without proper identification. The victim fell to the ground and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Ross was arrested on April 17 and released on $50,000 bail.
Following the incident, family, friends, and supporters of Albert Vasquez have been vocal in seeking justice. They pressured the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station to conduct a thorough investigation and demanded the release of video footage from the night of the assault. A GoFundMe campaign has raised $69,530 to support Vasquez’s recovery.
Gloria Jimenez, Vasquez’s sister, has spoken out about the severity of her brother’s injuries, which include two head fractures, bruises to his lungs, a black eye, and scrapes and bruises on his arms and legs. Vasquez spent a month in the hospital and is still on a long road to recovery. Jimenez and the family are considering legal action to seek justice for the assault.
