Hyderabad: A passenger was apprehended by authorities for attempting to open the exit door of an IndiGo flight while it was airborne, just moments before its scheduled landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. The incident, which occurred on May 21, recently came to light.
The 29-year-old individual, who had allegedly consumed ‘bhang’ before boarding the flight, got into a heated altercation with the airline staff as the flight approached its destination. The crew on the flight from Indore noticed the passenger’s erratic behavior and decided to move him to a different seat. However, he later insisted on reuniting with his two companions, whom he had travelled with to Indore for a pilgrimage.
Despite efforts to calm the situation, the accused, identified as Anil Patil from Chandragirinagar in Gajularamaram, reportedly displayed disruptive behavior towards another passenger, prompting concerns among the crew and fellow travellers.
Both the airline staff and passengers intervened to prevent the individual from accessing the exit door, given his alarming conduct. Patil, who allegedly suffers from health issues, had medical documentation to support his condition. Consequently, he was granted bail at the police station of RGI Airport, as confirmed by a police official on Friday.
