Virginia State Police are currently investigating a tragic three-vehicle crash that occurred in Franklin County, Virginia. The incident, which took place on Friday at 5:50 p.m. on Route 220 near Burgess Road, resulted in the death of one man.

According to investigators, a 2018 Ford F-150 was travelling north on Route 220 when it suddenly crossed the median and collided with a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was heading south. The impact was head-on and the Ford F-150 then proceeded to strike a 2023 Nissan Altima, also travelling south.

The driver of the Ford F-150 has been identified as Christopher Jeffrey Perry, a 48-year-old man from Apex, North Carolina. Perry, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, tragically lost his life at the scene.

The driver of the Freightliner tractor-trailer, who was also wearing his seatbelt, sustained injuries in the collision and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Fortunately, the driver of the Nissan Altima, who was wearing her seatbelt as well, emerged from the crash unscathed.

The Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the exact cause of the tragic accident.
