A recent incident of road rage in Udupi has captured public attention due to a viral video that surfaced. The Udupi Town Police Station initiated a case following the circulation of the video, depicting a violent clash between two factions of the Garuda Gang. The dramatic confrontation, officially documented on May 20, unfolded like a scene from a movie.

The arrested individuals, Ashiq and Rakib, were identified as participants in the altercation. Udupi’s Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arun K, confirmed the arrests and revealed that approximately five other suspects involved in the incident are currently evading authorities.

Law enforcement officials have seized two cars, two bikes, a sword (talwar), and a dagger as part of their investigative efforts. The FIR was lodged based on initial information gathered on May 20, with the possibility of additional charges being levied as more details from the video are analyzed.

While the exact cause of the clash is still under scrutiny, preliminary reports point towards internal discord within the gang. According to SP Dr. Arun K, the Garuda Gang is presently experiencing a period of inactivity, with the infighting believed to be fueled by jealousy among different factions, contributing to the gang’s diminishing influence.

The violent incident transpired near Sharada Kalyana Mantap road and was captured by CCTV cameras. The footage depicts a white car reversing and colliding with a brown car, both doors ajar, amidst individuals brandishing a sword. The white car subsequently struck a man wielding the sword, causing him to fall, followed by both vehicles moving forward as two individuals attacked the fallen man.

In a related development, a 19-year-old from Barkur in Brahmavar lodged a complaint alleging that between May 13 and May 17, an individual named Dhanush entrusted him with selling a car. Mohammed Fazil, an acquaintance, took the car for a test drive and purportedly handed it over to Isak and others, who reportedly damaged the vehicle, resulting in a loss of Rs 2 lakh. They are also accused of placing a sword in the car in preparation for a robbery.
