An 18-year-old suspect, Javier Carrillo from Riverside, was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 22, following an investigation into the tragic shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in Jurupa Valley, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident occurred on Sunday, May 19, at approximately 3:54 p.m., when deputies were called to a hospital in Riverside after receiving reports of a shooting victim. Despite efforts to save him, the 15-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Due to the victim’s age, his name has not been disclosed by the authorities. Witnesses interviewed at the hospital revealed that the crime scene was situated in the 10100 block of Ben Nevis Boulevard in Jurupa Valley.

Investigators identified Javier Carrillo as the prime suspect in the fatal shooting. Following this discovery, Carrillo was apprehended in Chino on May 22 and has been charged with murder. He is currently being held on a bail amount of $1 million, according to arrest records.

Sgt. Deirdre Vickers, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, stated that the investigation is still ongoing, with no recent developments to report at this time.
