Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Maryland Office of the Attorney General recently released body-worn camera footage from two Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies, shedding light on the aftermath of a tragic Rockville Pike crash that occurred in late April.

The fatal collision took place near the intersection of Rockville Pike and Twinbrook Parkway, resulting in the untimely death of 25-year-old Jasmin Gimon from Adelphi. The incident unfolded around 2:25 a.m. when two on-duty Montgomery County sheriff deputies, Deputy Connor Clifford and Deputy Paul Nelson, spotted a Dodge sedan speeding north on Rockville Pike. The deputies quickly activated their emergency equipment as they attempted to locate the vehicle.

Moments later, the deputies stumbled upon a two-car collision involving the Dodge sedan. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Dodge collided with a Honda sedan that was making a turn onto Rockville Pike to head south. Montgomery Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to the scene and found two occupied vehicles, with one of them rolled over.

Tragically, Gimon, the driver of the Honda sedan, was pronounced dead on the scene, while an adult female passenger in the Dodge was rushed to a trauma hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Dodge fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement shortly after. The authorities have not disclosed any information regarding the man’s identity or potential charges.

The body camera footage captured the deputies assessing the collision site, with the Dodge overturned and emitting smoke. Nelson’s camera footage showed him attempting to communicate with Gimon, who was trapped in the driver’s seat with a smashed door. As MCFRS crews arrived, Nelson and other officers informed them that Gimon still had a faint pulse.

Witnesses at the scene informed the deputies that they witnessed the Dodge driver fleeing after the crash. The Independent Investigations Division is actively investigating the fatal collision and encourages anyone with information to come forward by contacting 410-576-7070 or emailing IID@oag.state.md.us.

The release of the body-worn camera footage provides critical insight into the events that transpired that fateful night on Rockville Pike. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains vigilant in seeking justice for the victims and holding accountable those responsible for the tragic outcome..
