DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A routine traffic stop on I-91 in Deerfield led to the arrest of three individuals for drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, a trooper pulled over a grey car with an unreadable rear registration tag. The driver, identified as 48-year-old Nicol Murano from Brattleboro, Vermont, had an inactive license and was placed in custody. Two passengers, 36-year-old Katie Beam from Brattleboro, Vermont, and 35-year-old Najee Robertson from Bridgeport, Conn., also did not have valid licenses.
Backup was called, and an inventory search of the vehicle uncovered 224 grams of crack cocaine and a disassembled 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun with a 16-round magazine hidden behind the driver’s seat. None of the occupants were licensed to carry a firearm.
All three individuals were arrested and taken to Greenfield District Court where they faced multiple charges, including trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of a firearm without an FID, possession of a firearm during a felony offense, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.
In addition to these charges, Murano faces charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a number plate violation, while Robertson faces an additional charge of firearm violation with a prior violent drug crime.
