In a tragic turn of events, the grandparents of 14-year-old Kyneddi Miller, the Boone County girl who was found dead in a bathroom in a severely emaciated state, are now facing charges in connection to her death.

Donna Sue Stone, aged 76, and Jerry Carter Stone, aged 75, have been charged with child neglect resulting in death. They are currently being held on a bond of $25,000, which can be paid in property or 10% cash.

Back in April 2024, Kyneddi’s mother, Julie Miller, waived her preliminary hearing. She was arrested after her teenage daughter was discovered deceased in a bathroom, described as being “emaciated to a skeletal state” in a criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, Kyneddi had reportedly only been outside twice in a span of four years and had not attended school since 2019 or 2020. The severe physical condition in which she was found indicated a lack of proper care for at least four years, ultimately leading to her tragic demise.

Julie Miller is also facing charges of child neglect resulting in death and is currently being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on a bond of $250,000.

Neighbours, speaking anonymously to 13 News, expressed shock at the severity of the situation. They revealed that state police had conducted wellness checks in the area but were unaware of the extent of neglect and abuse occurring in the household.

Community members attested to the respectability of the grandparents, noting that they had never suspected any mistreatment within the family. They believed that the sudden weight loss experienced by Kyneddi was a recent development and that the family had intentions of seeking help for her.

Despite the tragedy, the family has requested privacy and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time.
