SAVONBURG, Kan. (WIBW) – Tragedy struck early Thursday morning in Neosho County, Kansas, as one person lost their life in a harrowing single-vehicle crash. The incident occurred at 3:08 a.m. on US-59 highway, approximately 3 miles south of Savonburg.

The Kansas Highway Patrol revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was travelling southbound on US-59 when it unexpectedly veered across the centre line. The vehicle then careened off the road to the left, ultimately coming to a halt at the base of a ditch ravine.

Sadly, the driver was ejected from the car during the crash and sustained fatal injuries. The driver, identified as Timothy John Vanleeuwen, aged 36 and a resident of Savonburg, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Despite wearing his seat belt, Vanleeuwen tragically lost his life in the tragic accident.
