BENGALURU: Former Law Minister and Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar shared a video on social media showcasing a reckless driver causing chaos in Basaveshwaranagar. The MLA promptly tagged the police, urging them to take decisive action. Responding swiftly, the Vijayanagar traffic police apprehended the 50-year-old driver and impounded the vehicle.
An unfortunate bystander, identified as Venkatesh, sustained injuries during the incident. Thankfully, a child narrowly escaped being struck by the reckless driver. The incident unfolded on a Tuesday morning at 8.30 am near the NPS junction on West of Chord Road. The reckless driver caused damage to multiple two-wheelers and four-wheelers in the process.
The driver of the car has been taken into custody, and the vehicle has been seized. Following the publication of the video on social media by the MLA on Wednesday night, he tagged the Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic) and DCP (West Traffic) for action. In response, the Vijayanagar traffic police confirmed that a suo moto case has been filed against the driver for reckless driving on a public road (IPC Section 279) and violations of the IMV Act. The 50-year-old driver from Rajajinagar was arrested and subsequently released on station bail on Wednesday night.
