SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — In a heartbreaking incident, a 4-year-old child, identified as Zayden Alex Francis, lost his life after being struck by a car on the West Side of San Antonio.
According to reports from KENS 5, the tragic accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near Rosedale Park. The child, who was unsupervised at the time, was attempting to cross the street for the second time when the collision happened.
San Antonio Police Department officers swiftly responded to the scene, and the child was immediately transported to the hospital. Despite the efforts to save his life, the young boy succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident did stop to provide assistance and cooperate with authorities.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the child being unattended while attempting to cross the street. It is believed that Francis was heading to a nearby park from his residence on the West Side.
