On Thursday, tragedy struck in Bardiya district as a 35-year-old woman, Manisha Rokaya, lost her life in a fatal tiger attack. The incident took place near the Janachetana community forest of Bansgadhi municipality-4. Rokaya, hailing from Hasanapur in Baijanath rural municipality-8 of the neighbouring Banke district, was traveling with her sister, Kailash Pati Tharu, when the attack occurred.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at Bardiya District Police Office, Tulsiram Aryal, confirmed the unfortunate event, stating that Rokaya succumbed to her injuries following the tiger attack. Fortunately, her sister, Tharu, managed to escape unharmed.
Authorities, including the Chief of the Division Forest Office in Bardiya, Prabin Bidari, have launched an investigation into the incident to gather more information and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife encounters in rural areas, highlighting the need for heightened awareness and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of individuals venturing into forested regions.
