Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 36-year-old man has been apprehended by authorities in West Tripura district after a significant amount of illicit goods and an illegal firearm were discovered at his residence in Motinagar, near the Rayermura Border Outpost. The individual in question has been identified as Sundar Ali.
In a coordinated effort involving the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Amtali police station, law enforcement officers conducted a raid at Ali’s home, leading to the seizure of 59,200 yaba tablets, 50 bottles of phensedyl, 23,000 Bangladeshi Taka, a 7.65 calibre pistol, and several magazines.
Superintendent of Police for West District, Kiran Kumar, has stated that an investigation will be carried out to determine the intended destination of the confiscated narcotics. “We will thoroughly question Sundar Ali to ascertain if there are any other individuals implicated in this incident,” Kumar remarked. The estimated value of the seized items is reported to be around Rs 30 lakh.
According to a report from the BSF, a total of narcotic substances valued at Rs 94 crore were intercepted near the border region last year. The seized items included 1.89 lakh yaba tablets worth Rs 9.45 crore, 22.39 thousand kilograms of cannabis worth Rs 14.28 crore, 2.11 lakh bottles of phensedyl or eskuf syrups worth Rs 3.91 crore, illicit alcohol valued at Rs 43.61 crore, along with 2,582 cattle worth Rs 3.53 crore and gold jewellery worth Rs 2.48 crore.
The arrest of Sundar Ali and the seizure of contraband items highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to tackle the issue of illegal activities in the border areas of West Tripura.
