The Israeli military concludes two-day operation in the West Bank, resulting in 12 Palestinian deaths

The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it has wrapped up a two-day operation in the occupied West Bank, which reportedly led to the deaths of 12 Palestinians and left 25 others injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The operation, which commenced on Tuesday in the city of Jenin and an adjacent urban refugee camp, was part of a crackdown on militants in the area. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group confirmed that its fighters engaged in battle with the Israeli forces during the operation.

Several militant groups have claimed that eight of those killed were fighters, including one from Hamas and seven from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an armed offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party. The Islamic Jihad group also reported casualties among its members.

Among the deceased was a surgeon working at a local hospital, as confirmed by Wissam Abu Baker, the director of Jenin Governmental Hospital. The surgeon was tragically killed on his way to work.

Further details regarding the operation have not been disclosed by the Israeli military at this time. Jenin and the adjacent refugee camp have historically been centers of resistance against Israel’s occupation, and the frequency of Israeli raids in the area has intensified during the Gaza conflict.

Violence in the West Bank has surged since the beginning of the war in Gaza, with the Palestinian Health Ministry reporting over 500 Palestinian deaths in the region since October 7. Many were killed in armed clashes during military raids, while others lost their lives for engaging in confrontations with troops or throwing stones and explosives. Tragically, civilians not involved in the conflicts have also been caught in the crossfire.

Israeli drone strike claims one life and injures three students in Lebanon, says state news agency

Reports from Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency indicate that an Israeli drone strike on Thursday resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to three school students who were passing by in a bus.

The strike, which occurred on a road leading to the southern market town of Nabatiyeh, caused damage to the bus and destroyed a nearby car. The injured students were promptly transported to hospitals in the vicinity for treatment.

The man who tragically lost his life in the incident was identified as Mohammed Farran, a member of Hezbollah, as confirmed by the militant group. Israeli airstrikes have targeted and killed numerous Hezbollah members in recent months.

The exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel commenced the day after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7. Since then, over 400 individuals have lost their lives in Lebanon, with the majority being fighters. However, more than 70 civilians and non-combatants have also been casualties of the ongoing violence.
