The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in Austin, Texas, successfully arrested three murder suspects within a five-day period, from May 9 to 14. The arrests came in response to a request for assistance from the Austin Police Department in a homicide investigation.

The Austin Police Department reached out to the LSFTF for help in locating and apprehending the suspects involved in a tragic incident that took place on April 28 in the 1700 block of Rutland Drive. Despite efforts by emergency medical personnel, the victim of the shooting was pronounced dead at the scene.

Identifying the Suspects

The three suspects have been identified as 22-year-old Jairo Velasquez-Lopez, a resident of Austin, Texas, 20-year-old Giovany Perdomo, also known as Pero, from Austin, Texas, and 32-year-old Nixon Marquez-Martinez, also hailing from Austin, Texas. Velasquez-Lopez, believed to be the getaway driver, was taken into custody on May 9. Perdomo, the alleged shooter, was apprehended on May 13, and Marquez-Martinez, suspected of ordering the murder, was arrested on May 14. Additionally, Marquez-Martinez was found to have an administrative warrant with the Department of Homeland Security.

Following their arrests, all three suspects were transported to the Travis County Jail for booking. The Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement have confirmed that the individuals are immigrants from Honduras.

Collaborative Efforts

This case marks the 18th homicide investigation in Austin this year, as reported by the Austin Police Department. The LSFTF in Austin is comprised of members from various local and state law enforcement agencies, including the Austin Police Department-Tactical Intelligence Unit, Georgetown and Round Rock Police Departments, county sheriff’s offices, the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Texas Department of Criminal Justice OIG, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, and U.S. DHS/Homeland Security Investigations.
