On May 23, a Nepali man named Gaurav Nepali, aged 24 and hailing from Khandadevi Rural Municipality in Ramechhap, was apprehended in Romania. He had been previously issued a red notice by INTERPOL for his alleged involvement in a rape case. With the assistance of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau of Romania, Nepali was successfully extradited to Kathmandu, Nepal.
Nepali had been evading authorities and was on the run internationally before his arrest. Following his departure from Nepal, the Interpol General Secretariat issued a red notice on April 24, 2023, at the request of the NCB Kathmandu. The red notice was a crucial step in locating and detaining Nepali, who was wanted in connection with the serious crime of rape.
Upon his return to Nepal, Nepali was taken into custody by the Police Circle Gaushala Kathmandu for further investigation and legal proceedings. The authorities will now work to ensure that justice is served and that Nepali faces the consequences of his alleged actions.
