BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – The tight-knit community of Bartow County, Georgia, is reeling from a devastating crash on Sunday evening that claimed the lives of three members of the Mason family and a college student.

The accident occurred on Interstate 75 near mile marker 286, approximately an hour northwest of Atlanta, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Dakarai and Erin Mason, along with their three children Brandon, Titus, and Noah, were on their way home from a church event when tragedy struck, as reported on a GoFundMe page set up to support the family.

Sadly, both parents and their eldest son, 14-year-old Brandon Crawford, lost their lives in the crash. The two younger children, 6-year-old Titus and 5-year-old Noah, sustained injuries, with Titus currently in critical condition in the ICU.

Aimee Odom, a 21-year-old college student at Kennesaw State University, was also a victim of the crash. She was travelling in another vehicle at the time of the collision.

The tragic incident unfolded when the Mason family’s Kia van veered off the northbound lanes of I-75, crossed the grass median, and entered the southbound lanes, leading to a collision with several other vehicles.

In addition to the fatalities, six individuals sustained injuries in the multi-vehicle crash.

The devastating news has left the close-knit community in shock, with local residents expressing their disbelief and sorrow over the heartbreaking event.

Erin Mason, the mother who tragically lost her life in the crash, was a valued member of the Holly Springs Police Department, where she worked.

The police department issued a statement on social media, mourning the loss of Erin and Dakarai Mason and requesting privacy for the grieving family during this difficult time.

Erin Mason’s uncle spoke to WANF, asking for prayers and respect for the family’s privacy as they come to terms with the devastating loss.

Bartow County Schools also joined in expressing their support, urging the community to keep Brandon and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging period.

Brandon, a freshman at Cass High Magnet School, was described as a vibrant and talented student who excelled in both academics and sports.

The GoFundMe page set up for the Mason family aims to raise funds for multiple funerals and cover medical expenses for the younger children, Titus and Noah.

The page emphasises the importance of unity and solidarity in facing the aftermath of such a tragic event, requesting continued prayers and support for all the families impacted by the crash.
