A shocking incident occurred in George Gramby Memorial Park in Morristown, where a 4-year-old child reported being sexually assaulted by a man. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the suspect, identified as 56-year-old John Dowd, a homeless individual known to frequent the area, has been apprehended in connection with the crime.

The distressing event took place on May 9, and Dowd was swiftly located by authorities. He was taken into custody and officially charged on May 15 for aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The defendant is currently being held pending a detention hearing as the investigation continues. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and the Morristown Police Department are urging anyone with information regarding Dowd or the incident to come forward by calling 973-285-6200 or 973-538-2200, respectively.
