Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identification of human remains found at the former residence of Herb Baumeister in Westfield, Indiana. The remains, originally recovered in 1996 from Fox Hollow Farm, have been identified as belonging to Jeffrey Jones.

Jeffrey Jones is the third individual to be identified from remains discovered at the site, following the identification of Allen Livingston last year. Livingston, who went missing in 1993, was linked to Baumeister’s serial killer case. Baumeister is believed to have targeted gay men in the mid-80s and mid-90s, luring them to his home before disposing of their bodies on the property.

The identification of Jones’ remains was achieved through an extensive forensic genetic genealogy investigation conducted by the coroner’s office and the FBI. Jones, a resident of Fillmore, was reported missing in August 1993.

Over 10,000 pieces of remains, including bones, fragments, and body parts, have been recovered at Fox Hollow Farm. Despite the challenging nature of the investigation due to the condition of the remains, law enforcement and forensic specialists remain dedicated to solving the case.

Unidentified DNA Profiles

Four DNA profiles from remains found on the farm remain unidentified, bringing the total number of known victims to 12. These profiles will be submitted to the FBI for genetic genealogy investigation in hopes of further progress in the case.

The investigation into Baumeister’s crimes began in 1996 when his son discovered bones on the family’s estate. Baumeister passed away shortly after, leaving behind a dark history of murder and mystery.

The Hamilton County Coroner, Jeff Jellison, expressed gratitude towards the collaborative efforts of the FBI, Indiana State Police Laboratory, Dr. Krista Latham of the University of Indianapolis, and DNA experts from Othram Laboratory in Texas for their assistance in the investigation.

As the search for answers continues, the community remains hopeful for closure and justice for the victims of Herb Baumeister’s heinous crimes.
