Lincoln, Neb. (KOLN) – Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon has announced that a 14-year-old boy accused of stabbing a teenager to death will be charged as an adult in the case.
The teenager, who has not been named due to legal reasons, is facing charges of first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony in connection with the death of 16-year-old Xavian Sawyer.
According to reports, the incident took place early on Sunday morning when Lincoln Police responded to a call about a fight at a residence near North 64th and Adams streets. Upon arrival, officers found Sawyer with two stab wounds to his torso. He was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators believe that the altercation stemmed from a previous disagreement between the two boys, which escalated during a gathering at the home. It is believed that Sawyer was unarmed at the time of the stabbing.
