Samuel O. Omamogho : “Midland Shooting Suspect Identified”

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The suspect arrested on Tuesday evening in relation to a fatal shooting in Midland has been identified as 33-year-old Samuel O. Omamogho, according to arrest records.

Officers from the Midland Police Department responded to a disturbance with weapons in the 6700 block of Rio Bravo at approximately 5:44 p.m. on May 21. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a deceased individual in the street; the victim’s identity has not been disclosed at this time.

Omamogho, the alleged shooter, was apprehended at the scene and has been charged with Murder. As of Wednesday morning, he remains detained at the Midland County Detention Center with his bond yet to be determined.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, MPD has refrained from disclosing extensive details regarding the incident. Therefore, the sequence of events that led to the shooting remains unclear. However, a video circulating on Facebook shortly after the event depicted a man brandishing a firearm as he walked through a neighbourhood in north Midland.

The footage captured Omamogho moving between two residences; with each approach towards a specific property, he wielded his weapon and discharged multiple rounds, as shown in the video. Eyewitnesses at the scene identified Omamogho as a resident living across the street from the targeted home. These witnesses recounted that the homeowner emerged from their residence to investigate the commotion and tragically lost their life in the street.
