In the early hours of Sunday morning, a violent incident unfolded at the intersection of 12th Avenue and West 50th Street in New York City. What started as an attempted robbery quickly escalated into a shootout, leaving one man injured and another facing multiple charges.
According to reports, three men emerged from a white vehicle at around 4:25 a.m. and targeted a 35-year-old man in an attempt to steal his necklace. A struggle ensued, during which one of the attackers accidentally shot his accomplice in the leg and chest. Fortunately, the victim managed to escape unharmed.
The injured suspect, identified as 21-year-old Benny Polanco from Bronx, NY, sought treatment at NYU Langone Medical Center where he was subsequently arrested. Polanco now faces a slew of charges, including attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree gang assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
As of now, the two remaining suspects, described as dark-skinned men dressed in all black, are still at large and being sought by law enforcement.
