A man by the name of Chimereze Chinedu has recently been apprehended by the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) of the Lagos State Police Command for orchestrating a sophisticated fraud scheme. The victim, a citizen of Thailand, was swindled out of a significant sum of Two Hundred and Sixteen Thousand Dollars.
According to the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Chimereze lured his victim into a deceitful transaction involving the purported sale of 37 tricycles. To add a layer of authenticity to his scam, the fraudster went as far as fabricating official-looking documents from the State Criminal Investigative Department in Lagos. These documents falsely claimed that the tricycles had been seized by the police, prompting the victim to pay an additional Thirty Million Naira in a bid to release the vehicles.
Arrest and Investigation
The arrest of Chimereze Chinedu took place on May 10, 2024, in Enugu State after an extensive period of investigation conducted with technical assistance from INTERPOL. The suspect is currently in custody as law enforcement officers work tirelessly to uncover more details about his illicit activities and to identify any potential accomplices.
