Washington DC: A tragic road accident in the US state of Georgia has claimed the lives of three Indian-American students, with two others sustaining injuries after their speeding car overturned, as confirmed by local authorities.

Victims’ Identities Revealed

The victims have been identified as Sriya Avasarala, Anvi Sharma, and Aryan Joshi, who were passengers in a single-vehicle crash on Westside Parkway in Alpharetta. The driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to it flipping over and coming to rest upside down in the tree line.

Survivors Rushed to Hospital

Two of the occupants, Joshi and Avasarala, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The other three individuals were immediately taken to North Fulton Hospital for medical attention. Regrettably, Sharma succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, as reported by the Alpharetta police.

Rithwak Somepalli, a Georgia State University student, was behind the wheel during the accident, while Mohammed Liyakath, a senior at Alpharetta High School, was also among the injured. All five individuals involved were 18 years old, according to official statements.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The collision caused one vehicle to veer off the road and into a tree line, resulting in it overturning. The incident, which occurred on May 14, led to the closure of the roadway between Hembree Road and Maxwell Road.

Avasarala and Sharma were both students at the University of Georgia, while Joshi was a senior at Alpharetta High School.

Although investigations are still ongoing, initial findings suggest that excessive speed may have played a role in the crash, according to the official statement.
