Accident – Death – Obituary News :

DENTON, United Kingdom — A woman from Denton has been taken into custody on a murder charge following a fatal fentanyl overdose, as reported by the Denton Police Department. This incident marks the fourth arrest in Denton since the enactment of a new state law that criminalizes the supply of fentanyl resulting in death.

Authorities were alerted on March 25 to an unconscious individual at an encampment located in the 1900 block of Brinker Road. The deceased, identified as 38-year-old Shaun Cross, was later determined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office to have succumbed to fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity.

Through their investigation, detectives uncovered evidence implicating 45-year-old Ryan Michelle Warner, a Denton resident, in the sale of narcotics containing fentanyl to the victim prior to his demise. Warner was apprehended on May 21 on a murder warrant in the 800 block of W. Hickory Street and is presently detained at the City of Denton Jail, awaiting bail to be set.

Since the implementation of a new state law on September 1, 2023, Denton has witnessed four arrests related to fentanyl-induced deaths being classified as murder. This legislation establishes criminal liability for individuals supplying fentanyl that leads to a fatality.
