On Tuesday, police reports revealed that a 30-year-old woman identified as Nadia, who was suffering from a mental illness, allegedly killed her 15-month-old daughter by slitting her throat with a sharp object in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on Monday evening in the Utraula area of the district.
According to Utraula SHO Sanjay Kumar Dubey, after receiving information from the family’s neighbours, a police team rushed to the scene and admitted the injured woman to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow. Her condition was described as critical. Nadia also attempted to take her own life by inflicting similar injuries on herself but was found alive.
Dubey further disclosed that Nadia had been undergoing treatment for her mental health issues. The authorities have sent the deceased child’s body for an autopsy, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
