Local emergency services, including the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and the Sarasota County Fire Department, sprang into action following a distress call at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. The call reported that two to three swimmers were in trouble off the coast of Siesta Key. Thanks to the quick response of bystanders and officials, all but one swimmer were successfully rescued.

Unfortunately, due to the onset of darkness and challenging sea conditions, the search operation had to be suspended temporarily. However, as soon as daylight broke, the search resumed with renewed vigour. Tragically, the body recovered from the waters was positively identified as that of the missing swimmer, Jose Daniel Venta Ciro.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body will be handed over to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation.
