Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 63-year-old man has been arrested in Pasadena on suspicion of igniting explosives with the intent to injure or intimidate others, police announced on Monday.

According to Pasadena Police Department Lt. Keith Gomez, detectives have been investigating over 150 unidentified explosions near Allen Avenue and Washington Boulevard. Most of these explosions were not reported to the police but were detected through ShotSpotter technology and neighborhood tips. In the past two weeks, at least 14 explosions were reported in the same area.

After a thorough investigation, a Pasadena Fire Department arson investigator and the Pasadena Police Department Robbery/Homicide Unit identified two vehicles with the same registered owner. With the help of technology, the suspect was identified as Art Leon Berian. Detectives obtained video footage of a related explosion around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

During further investigation, detectives heard a loud explosion in the area and observed a white cloud of smoke nearby. They began canvassing the location where Berian’s 2013 BMW was allegedly seen arriving at the site of the explosion. Berian was eventually located and booked at the Pasadena City Jail on suspicion of possession of explosives with intent to injure or intimidate. His bail has been set at $1.5 million.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in any of the explosions. The Pasadena Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incidents to contact them at 626-744-4241. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
