EVANS MILLS, New York (WWNY/Gray News) – A 16-year-old high school student tragically passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning following an after-prom party in New York.
According to WWNY reports, local authorities were alerted to an unconscious male found in the driveway of a residence in Evans Mills at approximately 3:15 a.m.
The young boy, identified as Jordan Drake, was swiftly transported to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was later pronounced dead.
Initial inquiries indicate that Drake had attended an after-prom gathering in the town of Theresa earlier that evening.
Drake was a student at Indian River High School in Philadelphia, New York.
School officials took to Facebook to express their sorrow over Drake’s untimely passing and announced that counselors would be available to provide support starting Monday.
The local community has been encouraged to wear the school colors of blue and white as a tribute to the teenager and as a symbol of solidarity.
Superintendent Troy Decker remarked, “We are a unified school, a close-knit family, and a resilient community. In both moments of joy and sorrow, we stand together. Many of us are experiencing pain at this time and will rely on the strength of our support networks, friendships, and unity. Therefore, we urge you to join us in donning blue and white attire tomorrow to demonstrate our collective resilience.”
Described as an “active IRHS student with numerous close companions and family connections across the region,” Drake’s passing has deeply affected his peers and teachers.
Decker added, “Our students and staff will comfort each other as they reminisce about their classmate, student, friend, relative, and fellow Indian River student. This period may be challenging for everyone, but we remain resolute as a school community. Our sincerest condolences and sympathies go out to Jordan’s loved ones and friends.”
