A spate of violent attacks has been reported recently on the Westside of Los Angeles.

Just last week, a homeless man was apprehended in the 2000 block of Ocean Front Walk for the alleged attempted rape of a female jogger. Moreover, a month ago, a 29-year-old man was charged with assaulting and sexually harassing two women near the Venice Canals. In another alarming incident, a 41-year-old man was arrested after prompting an active shooter response by firing numerous rounds from a rooftop in Marina del Rey, while live-streaming the incident on social media.

In the aftermath of the Venice Canals assaults, City Councilwoman Traci Park denounced what she described as “catch-and-release” and “criminals-are-the-victims” policies.

“The residents of Los Angeles are increasingly concerned about their safety,” Park stated. “No woman, visitor, or family should feel unsafe while walking in any neighborhood of Los Angeles.”

She highlighted the presence of “unstable and potentially dangerous” individuals on the streets, expressing concern that Los Angeles is gaining an unfavorable reputation.
