Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred in western Kentucky, as a nine-year-old boy named Bentlee Cook was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in the small town of Waverly. The accident took place on Sunday at approximately 5:45 p.m., according to Union County Sheriff Jason Thomas.

Sheriff Thomas stated that Bentlee was hit by a pickup truck driven by 86-year-old Samuel Willett from Morganfield. Sadly, the young boy succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital shortly after being transported there.

Initial findings from the investigation indicate that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident. It appears that Bentlee accidentally rode his bicycle into an intersection, leading to a collision with the oncoming truck. The quick nature of the incident left little time for the driver to avoid hitting the child.

Sheriff Thomas revealed that security footage obtained from a nearby residence captured the entire tragic event. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently ongoing, as authorities work to gather more information and piece together the sequence of events.

The loss of young Bentlee Cook has undoubtedly left a profound impact on the community of Waverly and beyond. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
