Accident – Death – Obituary News : In a recent court ruling at the Media Courthouse, a Chester resident, Jabree Robertson, aged 30, was found guilty of first-degree murder, along with two counts each of attempted murder and aggravated assault. The conviction also included charges of conspiracy and firearms offenses related to a tragic incident that occurred on February 22, 2020. During this incident, 23-year-old Randy Maultsby lost his life, while two other individuals sustained injuries.
Robertson’s trial, which took place in the area of West Seventh and Lamokin streets, saw the involvement of multiple eyewitnesses who provided crucial testimony. One of the victims, who was shot in the back during the incident, recounted the harrowing experience to Deputy District Attorney Matt Krouse. The witness shared how they had just arrived to pick up Maultsby when gunshots suddenly erupted, prompting chaos and panic to ensue.
According to the witness, more than 20 shots were fired from a white or silver car that pulled up in front of them. In a desperate attempt to protect themselves, the witness rammed their own vehicle into the perpetrator’s car twice before the assailants fled the scene. Tragically, Maultsby succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at Crozer Chester Medical Center.
During the trial, Chester Detective Michael Maher revealed that the shooting vehicle, a white Kia Optima with significant rear-end damage and owned by Enterprise Leasing, was discovered at 11th and Parker streets in the city, leading to crucial forensic evidence being collected. Delaware County Detective James Rearden shared that fingerprints matching Robertson, Washington, and Shelton were found on various parts of the vehicle, linking them to the crime scene.
Despite attempts to cover their tracks, including reporting the car stolen, the suspects were unable to evade justice. Testimonies from witnesses, as well as advanced DNA analysis techniques, played a pivotal role in securing the guilty verdict against Robertson. Following the jury’s deliberation, Robertson is set to face sentencing on July 22 before Common Pleas Court Judge George Pagano, with first-degree murder carrying a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.
