BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ/Gray News) – Authorities in West Virginia were shocked to discover a 14-year-old girl in a skeletal state after not receiving medical treatment for the last four years.
Deputies were called to a home on April 17 following reports of a teenager, identified as Kyneddi Miller, experiencing cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, deputies were taken aback by the teen’s appearance, describing it as ‘shocking’.
A criminal complaint revealed that Kyneddi’s body was ’emaciated to a skeletal state’, as reported by WSAZ.
During an interview with Donna Stone, the teen’s grandmother, deputies learned that Kyneddi had been confined to the house and had only been outside on two occasions in the past four years. Additionally, she had not attended school since late 2019 or early 2020.
Authorities also discovered that the teen’s mother, Julie Miller, had neglected to seek medical treatment for her daughter for the last four years, according to WSAZ.
In the days leading up to her death, Donna revealed that Kyneddi had been unable to care for herself for four to five days due to her deteriorating physical condition, as stated in the criminal complaint.
As a result of the neglect, Jerry Stone, Donna Stone, and Julie Miller were all charged with child neglect resulting in death. Deputies noted that the individuals had failed to provide the necessary care to ensure the teenager’s physical safety and health.
