BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ/Gray News) – Authorities in West Virginia were shocked to discover a 14-year-old girl, identified as Kyneddi Miller, in a skeletal state after not receiving medical treatment for the last four years.
Deputies were called to a home on April 17 following reports of a teenager, Kyneddi Miller, experiencing cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, deputies were stunned by the teen’s appearance, describing her as ‘shocking.’
A criminal complaint revealed that Kyneddi’s body was ’emaciated to a skeletal state,’ as reported by WSAZ.
During an interview with Donna Stone, the teen’s grandmother, deputies learned that Kyneddi had been confined to the house for the majority of the last four years, having only been outside on two occasions. Additionally, she had not attended school since late 2019 or early 2020.
The child’s mother, Julie Miller, was also found to have neglected her daughter’s medical needs for the past four years, according to WSAZ.
In the days leading up to her tragic death, Donna Stone revealed that Kyneddi had been unable to function independently for four to five days due to her deteriorating physical state, as stated in the criminal complaint.
Jerry Stone, Donna Stone, and Julie Miller have all been charged with child neglect resulting in death. Deputies highlighted that both grandparents ‘failed to exercise a minimum degree of care to assure the teenager’s physical safety and health.’
