CLINTON COUNTY, Mich (WGHN) – A devastating incident occurred in Clinton County over the weekend, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old Grand Haven man after a car struck a group of pedestrians. The collision tragically claimed the lives of two individuals and left 14 others injured.

According to reports from WZZM TV 13, the tragic event unfolded on Saturday at approximately 6:30 p.m. on S Wacousta Road near Corrison Road in Watertown Township.

Authorities revealed that a family group was walking along the roadside when a vehicle struck them. Shockingly, the driver of the car fled the scene following the incident. Two individuals, including a 42-year-old man from Grand Ledge, were pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, 14 individuals, including eight children, were transported to hospitals for medical attention.

Of the 14 injured individuals, eight have been discharged from medical care, while six remain hospitalized. Tragically, one person is currently in critical condition, fighting for their life.

Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the driver of the vehicle a few miles away from the crash site. The driver, a 35-year-old woman from the Perrinton area, has been detained in the Clinton County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday afternoon.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, with authorities suspecting that alcohol may have played a role in the tragic collision.
