Jefferson N.C. – Sheriff B. Phil Howell has reported the apprehension of 18-year-old Joshua Smith Cordoba from Catawba, N.C.
On the 7th of May 2024, Deputy Josh Carter was on patrol in the Jefferson area when he observed a vehicle committing several traffic violations. Deputy Carter proceeded to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle; the driver was identified as Joshua Cordoba, who was driving with an indefinitely suspended license.
During the search of the vehicle, Deputy PJ Phillips discovered 3 concealed handguns, a significant amount of money, over 5lbs of marijuana, a baggie containing mushrooms, and various drug paraphernalia items.
Subsequently, Cordoba was placed under arrest and taken to the Ashe County Detention Center without any further issues.
Joshua Smith Cordoba, aged 18, from Catawba, N.C., was processed and later released at the Ashe County Detention Center on a $40,000 secured bond. Cordoba’s charges include:

- Felony Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Marijuana
- Felony Possession Sch I CS
- Felony PWIMSD Sch ICS
- Possess Marijuana Paraphernalia
- Carrying Concealed Gun
