Umar Mohammed : “Hoodlums stab health worker to death in Minna – tragic incident”

A 35-year-old health worker, Umar Mohammed, tragically lost his life after being stabbed by hoodlums in the Gbeganu area of Minna, the capital of Niger State.

According to sources, Umar Mohammed, who worked at a private clinic in Minna, was on his way home after attending to a patient when he encountered a group of hoodlums engaged in a violent altercation with dangerous weapons.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from a fight at a wedding reception in Gbeganu, which resulted in multiple injuries.

Residents of Minna have expressed concern over the rising incidence of violence and disruption of peace in the city, with areas like Kpakungu, Maitumbi, Fadikpe, Gbeganu, Soje, Obgomosho, Unguwan-Daji, Limawa, Barikin-Sale, and Kwangila being particularly affected.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating, “On 17/5/2024 at about 2200hrs, it was reported at Kpakungu Div that there was a wedding ceremony at Gbeganu area, while some miscreants from the Area reportedly led by one Ukasha and others armed with dangerous weapons attacked a victim named Umar Mohammed 35yrs.”

“The victim was inflicted with serious injury on the head, and he was rushed to Gen Hospital Minna, where he later gave up the ghost and was confirmed dead by the doctor.”

Abiodun disclosed that two suspects had been apprehended, with efforts ongoing to capture the remaining fugitives.
