Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking by apprehending a 70-year-old man named Adamu Mohammed in Mbulamel, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. Mohammed was arrested for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs, a serious offence that the NDLEA is working tirelessly to combat.

Interception of Illicit Consignments

In addition to Mohammed’s arrest, the anti-narcotic agency has announced the interception of several illicit consignments bound for China and the United Kingdom. The NDLEA operatives, as part of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI), intercepted two parcels containing cocaine and amphetamine concealed in steel bolts and shea butter in Lagos. This successful operation highlights the agency’s commitment to preventing the spread of illegal drugs both within Nigeria and internationally.

Prevention of Drug Exportation

The NDLEA’s efforts have also led to the prevention of drug exportation attempts. One such case involved Emeka Nwadiaro, also known as Mega, who tried to export 3.6kg of Loud, a strain of cannabis, to Dubai, UAE. Thanks to the vigilance of NDLEA operatives, the attempt was thwarted, and Nwadiaro was apprehended in Onitsha, Anambra state.

Arrests and Seizures Across Nigeria

Furthermore, the NDLEA has made several arrests and seizures across Nigeria, including the interception of a Mercedes Benz bus loaded with 840kg of cannabis in Lagos, the arrest of a suspect with 75,000 pills of opioids in Benue State, and the discovery of a big gas cylinder used to conceal cannabis in Imo State.

Additionally, in Kaduna State, a 27-year-old man named Gaddafi Sani was arrested with a significant amount of cannabis and diazepam along the Abuja-Kaduna Road. These operations demonstrate the widespread reach of the NDLEA’s efforts to crack down on drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Explosive Materials Seized

In a particularly alarming development, the NDLEA intercepted a consignment of 2,025 pieces of improvised explosive devices (IED) materials in Niger State. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure, and the agency’s Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), has directed that the suspects and the explosive materials be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.

Conclusion

The NDLEA’s recent operations have been successful in apprehending individuals involved in drug trafficking and preventing the exportation of illicit drugs. The agency’s dedication to fighting drug trafficking and related crimes is evident in the swift actions taken to intercept illegal consignments and arrest suspects across Nigeria. These efforts are crucial in safeguarding the wellbeing of Nigerian citizens and combating the negative impact of drug trafficking on society.
