In a disturbing turn of events at a school in Uttar Pradesh, a Class 10 student has reportedly been subjected to physical assault by a teacher. The incident, which occurred on May 13, 2024, has sparked outrage and concern among the local community.
According to a report by the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), the student has suffered a partial loss of hearing as a result of the alleged assault. The accused teacher, identified as Raghavendra, has been taken into custody by the police in connection with the incident.
The incident took place at a school in Piprauli, Barhagaon, Uttar Pradesh. The student’s father, Praveen Kumar Madhukar, took immediate action by filing a complaint at the Ubhaon police station. In the complaint, he detailed how his 14-year-old son was subjected to physical violence by his mathematics teacher during a class.
It is reported that the teacher became aggressive after catching the student talking to a fellow classmate during the lesson. Allegedly, Raghavendra repeatedly struck the student near his ear, resulting in a burst eardrum and subsequent hearing impairment.
The severity of the injuries prompted the filing of a case against the accused teacher under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code on May 18, 2024.
The police investigation into the matter is ongoing, as authorities work to gather evidence and statements from all parties involved. The community awaits justice for the student and accountability for the accused teacher.
