Authorities from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) swiftly responded to a distress call regarding a “physical altercation between a student and the principal.” Upon investigation, surveillance footage from the classroom was retrieved, revealing disturbing actions by Prophet. The footage depicted him preventing the child from exiting the room for over 40 minutes, during which he physically restrained the student on the floor, applied a chokehold, and used a charging cable to inflict harm, causing visible injuries to the child.
Principal’s Arrest and Allegations
During questioning, Prophet attempted to justify his actions by claiming he was trying to prevent harm to the child. However, evidence obtained from the incident contradicted his statement, leading to his immediate arrest. He is currently detained at the Marion County Jail without bond.
According to Fox35, a notification was issued to parents informing them of Prophet’s termination from the school. Despite these serious allegations, the charges were reduced to “interfering with child custody,” resulting in a 90-day jail sentence and probation for Prophet.
