ATCHISON COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities in Atchison County are currently investigating three suspects on multiple allegations following a routine traffic stop in the area.

According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, the incident occurred just after 11 a.m. on Thursday when an officer on patrol pulled over a Ford Explorer SUV in the 500 block of Green Street in Atchison due to a traffic violation.

Upon further inspection, the officer discovered that the driver, identified as 49-year-old Robert “Jamie” Ford from Atchison, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Additionally, it was revealed that the two passengers, 36-year-old Shellene Keil and 36-year-old Melissa Butler, both residents of Atchison, had outstanding warrants for their arrests.

Further investigation at the scene led to the discovery that all three individuals in the vehicle were in possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Subsequently, they were all taken into custody and transported to the County Jail for further questioning.

Shellene D. Keil is currently being held on charges including possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in court, and a District Court warrant for a theft incident that took place at Stop and Go on 4th and U.S. 59 back in September 2023.
