(KRON) – A police canine detected copious amounts of drugs during a routine traffic stop in San Francisco, as reported by the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division.

On Monday night, a CHP officer, accompanied by his canine partner, pulled over a silver Honda on westbound Interstate 80 in San Francisco for a mechanical violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer discovered that the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old San Lorenzo Rubin Natael Turcios Castro, raised suspicions when the police canine alerted to the presence of narcotics during the detainment process.

Following a thorough search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers uncovered a significant quantity of illegal substances. The seizure included over 511 grams of fentanyl, 158 grams of methamphetamine, 73 grams of heroin, 20 grams of unidentified pills, and 80 grams of suspected Xanax. Additionally, a firearm was also found inside the car.

Castro was promptly taken into custody and subsequently booked into the San Francisco County Jail on multiple felony drug-related charges.
