Accident – Death – Obituary News :

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – On the third anniversary of the tragic murder of Wayne Moore from Parachute, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the case.

The incident took place on May 11th, 2021, when GCSO officers responded to a distress call regarding a man found bleeding and unresponsive in his car on Highway 6, just west of Parachute. Upon arrival, the victim, later identified as Wayne Moore, was pronounced dead at the scene. Moore, a local resident who lived in his vehicle in the area surrounding Parachute, had been the victim of a homicide, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Following an extensive investigation by GCSO and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), it was determined that John Michael Worley, a 30-year-old resident of Parachute, was the primary suspect in Moore’s murder. Over the course of three years, GCSO investigators conducted numerous interviews, executed multiple search warrants, and meticulously analyzed physical evidence to build a case against Worley.

  • Murder in the First Degree, a class 1 Felony
  • Stalking, a class 5 Felony
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class 6 Felony

Worley has been remanded to the Garfield County Jail with a bond set at $5,000,000. The collaborative efforts of the CBI, Parachute Police Department, 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and the Garfield County Special Problem Enforcement and Response Team (SPEAR) were instrumental in the investigation over the three-year period.

Additional details regarding the case are not available at this time.
