Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Milwaukee resident is facing a slew of serious charges after allegedly leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that spanned over an hour. Deonte Riley, aged 44, has been hit with multiple felony counts following the incident, which also led to the discovery of illicit drugs and an unregistered firearm.

Riley stands accused of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Flee or Elude an Officer, as well as two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Additionally, he faces charges of Possession of a Short-Barreled Shotgun or Rifle and Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, specifically THC.

The dramatic sequence of events unfolded on May 10th when Milwaukee police officers attempted to pull over a silver four-door Mercury Mariner driven by Riley near the intersection of Hampton and Sherman. Despite initial compliance, Riley quickly fled the scene, setting off a pursuit that covered more than 40 miles and lasted well over an hour.

During the chase, Riley brazenly ignored numerous traffic signals and even drove through a construction zone, reaching speeds of up to 70 mph in 35 mph zones. At one point, he jettisoned a firearm and a duffle bag from the vehicle, with officers managing to recover the discarded weapon. The pursuit only came to an end when stop sticks disabled Riley’s vehicle, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Following Riley’s apprehension, authorities executed a search warrant at a storage locker rented by him at ‘Devon Self Storage’ in Milwaukee. Inside the locker, police uncovered a .556 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a 60-round magazine, deemed a ‘ghost gun’ due to the absence of any identifying markings. Additionally, bags containing suspected methamphetamine pills and marijuana were found, along with drug paraphernalia and personal items belonging to Riley.

Subsequent testing confirmed the presence of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and THC in the seized substances. Prosecutors have indicated that the quantity and packaging of the drugs, coupled with the presence of a firearm and a digital scale, suggest an intent for distribution rather than personal use.

Deonte Riley is currently detained at the Milwaukee County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 23rd. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal firearms and illicit drug trafficking in the community..
