Mumbai: A 50-year-old man has been apprehended by the Mumbai Police for allegedly making a false threat call regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent rally at Shivaji Park in the city. The suspect, identified as Kannappa Reddy and residing in Amboli, Andheri West, confessed during questioning that he made the call after learning about the upcoming event featuring PM Narendra Modi.

According to authorities, the Prime Minister held a rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar as part of his campaign for the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Notable political figures such as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, and MNS leader Raj Thackeray were also in attendance alongside PM Modi.

Legal Action Taken

Prior to the rally, the police received a threatening call indicating a potential incident at the venue and advising heightened security measures. Following the call, the police promptly alerted the Prime Minister\’s security team and increased security at the event.

A case was registered at the Azad Maidan police station under relevant sections, and an investigation was launched. The police were able to track down the suspect to the Amboli area in Andheri, where he was arrested.

Further legal proceedings are being pursued in relation to the incident.
