Shani Louk : “3 Israeli Hostages Remains Found”

JERUSALEM — The Israeli military announced on Friday that its forces in Gaza had found the bodies of three Israeli hostages who were taken by Hamas during an attack on October 7. Among the deceased was German-Israeli citizen Shani Louk. Additionally, a group of 35 American and other international doctors who had volunteered to assist a hospital in Gaza found themselves trapped in the conflict zone.

Rescue Efforts and Trapped Doctors

After days of negotiations between U.S. and Israeli authorities, some of the doctors were able to leave Gaza, while others, including three Americans, chose to stay behind. The Palestinian American Medical Association confirmed that 14 doctors remained in Gaza, providing crucial medical care amidst the ongoing crisis.

The discovery of the bodies of Louk, Amit Buskila, and Itzhak Gelerenter shed light on the severity of the attack carried out by Hamas during the Nova music festival near the Gaza border. Military spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari stated that the hostages were killed while attempting to flee the event.

Efforts to Bring Hostages Home

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his sorrow over the deaths of the hostages and vowed to bring back all Israeli captives, both alive and deceased. The military did not disclose the exact location where the bodies were found but confirmed that they were retrieved overnight during operations in Rafah, Gaza.

Since the attack on October 7, Hamas militants have killed approximately 1,200 people and abducted around 250 others. Despite efforts to secure the release of hostages, around 100 individuals are still held captive in Gaza, with the bodies of 30 more yet to be recovered.

Netanyahu faces mounting pressure to resolve the crisis and ensure the safe return of all hostages. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has drawn criticism from the United States, with threats to reduce support if conditions do not improve.
