Accident – Death – Obituary News :
Two individuals lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries in a tragic incident that took place in Tala upazila of Satkhira district on Saturday, 18th May. The victims, identified as Saidul Gazi, 38, and Manirul Islam, 30, were paddy field workers hailing from Koyra upazila in Khulna.
The unfortunate accident occurred at around 6 am at Kati Sardarbari Battola. A truck, carrying a total of 13 paddy field workers who had travelled from Koyra upazila to Gopalganj for paddy harvesting, overturned as the driver lost control of the vehicle. The impact of the overturn resulted in the immediate deaths of Saidul Gazi and Manirul Islam, while the remaining 11 individuals sustained various injuries. Monirul Islam, the officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station, provided details of the incident.
Zahidul Islam, one of the workers involved in the accident, revealed that they had ventured out for work to harvest paddy in exchange for 20-25 maund of paddy as their wage. The workers attributed the tragic incident to the ongoing road expansion work in the area.
The loss of lives and the injuries sustained by the paddy field workers serve as a stark reminder of the risks faced by individuals in the agricultural sector.
