Suspected Drug Dealer Arrested in Cebu City

CEBU CITY, Philippines – A significant amount of suspected shabu, estimated to be worth over P3.5 million, was seized from a former convict during a police operation in Sitio Lower Peace Valley, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, on Thursday evening, May 16, 2024.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Edgardo Ordeñeza Gabini, also known as “Dodot,” resides in the barangay and works as a habal-habal driver.

According to reports, Gabini was apprehended by the Special Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) personnel of the Mabolo Police Station around 11:25 p.m. on Thursday.

Law enforcement officials discovered nine plastic packs containing a crystalline substance believed to be shabu in the possession of the suspect.

The confiscated illegal drugs were valued at P3,512,000 based on the Standard Drug Price (SDP).

Repeat Offender

Police Major Romeo Caacoy, the chief of Mabolo Police Station, revealed that Gabini had previously served time in prison for drug-related offenses.

Despite his incarceration, Gabini allegedly continued his illegal drug operations in Cebu City, managing the storage and distribution of drugs to other areas in the province.

Following monitoring and validation of the suspect’s activities, Mabolo police conducted a successful operation leading to his re-arrest.

Investigation Ongoing

During questioning, Gabini claimed ignorance about the identity of his drug supplier, stating that communications were limited to phone calls for drug pickups.

Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation to determine the sources of the illegal drugs distributed by Gabini.

As of now, the suspect remains in custody at the Mabolo Police Station pending the filing of charges related to drug possession and trafficking.
