A man has been taken into custody following a traffic stop in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where a loaded gun was discovered by police officers on Tuesday. The incident took place at the intersection of Gratton and Meadow Streets.
Law enforcement officials were attempting to pull over a white Jeep that had been reported stolen when the driver, identified as 18-year-old Alexis Figueroa, abruptly accelerated onto 391 South as the officer approached the vehicle.
After a short pursuit, Figueroa exited the highway and collided with another vehicle. Both Figueroa and a passenger then fled the scene on foot, but officers were able to apprehend them. The identity of the passenger, who is a minor, has not been disclosed.
Upon searching the car, authorities discovered a loaded firearm, leading to Figueroa facing multiple charges in connection with the incident.
