A tragic incident occurred on Mother’s Day when a 3-year-old South Carolina child, Jasmine Denise Mickell, was pronounced dead after a birdbath fell on top of her. The Aiken County Coroner’s Office filed a case report stating that the cause of death was a “blunt force injury to the abdomen with a suspected manner of Accident.”
Deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after receiving a report that Mickell had been crushed by a bird bath. Upon arrival, they found the family in distress with the child in the middle of the road. First responders immediately began CPR on the child, but unfortunately, she did not survive.
The fatal incident took place at a home in Warrenville, S.C., which is located approximately 15 miles from Augusta, Ga. Mickell was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, where she was pronounced dead.
Despite the tragic nature of the incident, no charges have been filed in connection with the child’s death. Authorities have classified the incident as a “tragic accident.”
A GoFundMe campaign was set up to support Mickell’s family in their time of need. The fundraiser, organized by Kayla Wyatt, aims to raise funds to help the family cope with their devastating loss.
Jasmine Denise Mickell was described as a joyful child who brought happiness to everyone she met. She enjoyed simple pleasures like honey grahams, candy, swimming, and visits to the park. Her impact on people’s lives will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her parents, Alex Baxter and Brianna Jazmine Mikell, and five siblings — Karsen, Avery, Olivia, Lizzy, and Lily Baxter. Celebration of life services will be held in her honor on May 19 at the Gloverville Community Park and on May 26 at the Langley Pond Recreation Area.
